It may have been just a few months since Niall Horan dropped his folky pop debut, "This Town," but the former One Direction bandmate is about to retreat away from the spotlight, or as he called it, "fall off the face of the earth."
Earlier this week, the 23-year-old singer penned a handwritten letter to fans, detailing the progress of his forthcoming LP. "So when I haven’t been doing promo, I’ve been in the studio recording my album…I’m currently 8 songs deep and ready for more," Horan wrote of his progress. "I want to take my time with no pressure and make sure I get it right. I’m quite the self critic, which I like about myself. So I’ll let you know when I’m done."
In case you were wondering, Horan has teamed up with producers Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, James Bay) and Don Was (John Mayer, Bob Dylan) to work on the LP, which has been recorded in various Los Angeles studios with the assistance of a live band.
But even though he has some upcoming gigs on the horizon, including an appearances on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and our iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour, Niall is about to take a break from the scene for a couple of months.
"After Christmas I’m gonna fall off the face of the earth and do one of my disappearing acts," he wrote. "I want to come up with more song ideas and get back in the writing zone. So have a lovely Christmas and happy New Year and I’ll see ya in Feb."
