I hate the current format for the college football playoff. It still is a popularity contest. It still leans to the big schools and the big budgets. It still gives a close to zero chance for non-P5 teams.
Qualifications for teams making it in the field of 4 =
P5 teams & INDEPENDENTS 1 loss or less
Non-P5 teams = Undefeated
Here is a list of the teams that are still in it to win it ALL:
AAC - SOUTH FLORIDA / CENTRAL FLORIDA
ACC - NC STATE / CLEMSON / MIAMI / VIRGINIA / VA TECH
B12 - TCU / OKLAHOMA / OKLAHOMA STATE
B10 - OHIO STATE / MICHIGAN / PENN STATE / MICH STATE / WISCONSIN
P12 - WASHINGTON / WASH STATE / USC
SEC - GEORGIA / KENTUCKY / ALABAMA
IND - NOTRE DAME
If this sports was ran like all others in the NCAA, we'd have 10 conference champs with 6 at-larges. Only a handful of teams would be officially eliminated at this point in the season.
