2019 Yankees Preview

The Yankees open their 2019 season on Thursday and despite the injuries to start the season they are still one of the favorites to win the World Series in 2019.

In 2018 the Yankees biggest weakness was their starting rotation they improved it this offseason by resigning J.A. Happ and trading for James Paxton. The concern going into 2019 is the injuries to ace Luis Severino and CC Sabathia, Severino is out until may with right shoulder imflammation and CC is recovering from knee surgery which he had after the 2018 season. It look like its going to be Domingo German, Jonathan Loaisiga and Gio Gonzalez to fill the 2 open spots in the rotation to start the season.

The Yankees bullpen in 2018 was one of the best in baseball and it should be as good in 2019, even with the loss of David Robertson to the Phillies they resigned Zack Britton and they signed Adam Ottavino. But they wont have Dellin Betances to start the season due to him being out with an impingement to his right shoulder.

In the offseason there were big names out there with Bryce Harper and Manny Machado but the Yankees choose to stick with their young core of Judge, Sanchez, Torres and Andujar. The issue going into the season for the Yankees line up is their going to be without Di Di Gregorius who is out until July recovering from Tommy John Surgery and Aaron Hicks who is out with a back injury .

With the additions the Yankees made to the starting rotation and the pieces they added in the bullpen they should be set to have a really good year in 2019.
