Bruins Bounce Back With 5-1 Win

In the last week or so, the Bruins have not been the same team as they were to start the season. Having lost four straight games before the win in Toronto on Saturday followed immediately by a shootout loss on Sunday against Washington, Boston needed a win to put them back on track. It appeared that they had figured out some of their problems while also missing key members of the roster. Patrice Bergeron and Torey Krug both missed the game with Krug on the IR, and Bergeron day-to-day.

In the game, Matt Grzelcyk opened the scoring late in the first period with a shot from the left circle assisted by Brad Marchand.

The Bruins would keep their foot on the pedal as they would score again only 14 seconds later. Brad Marchand would pick up his second assist on the night as he fed David Pastrnak for a one-timed shot that beat Devils goalie MacKenzie Blackwood.

As the third period got underway, the Devils would score to get within a goal, but the Bruins would draw a penalty and head to the power play where they have been so dangerous this year. Once again Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak would connect to get the two goal lead back.

With a 3-1 lead in the game, the Bruins would get their second multi-goal scorer of the game when Matt Grzelcyk got his second goal of the game and the season. Shortly after the goal and with the game essentially out of reach of the Devils, Connor Clifton would score his second goal of the season as he fired home a shot from the blue line.

In the last five games, the Bruins are 2-0-3 having gone to a shootout in all three of their losses, but have managed to go on a 5 game point streak. They will be back in action again on Thursday night as they take on the Buffalo Sabres at TD Garden.
