Leading up to the Christmas break, the Bruins had been struggling, until they went up against a Capitals team that has had the B's number in the past few seasons. This time the Bruins stomped them with a 7-3 win. Coming out of the three day lay off, Boston was up in Buffalo for the first half of a home and home series with the Sabres. They were able to carry the momentum into this series where Jaroslav Halak was able to get the win with a 26 save shutout. Patrice Bergeron netted a pair of goals in this one followed by an empty net goal by Brandon Carlo sealing the 3-0 win.
In game 2 of this back-to-back, Tuukka Rask would get the start and the win as the Bruins continued to outplay the Sabres, this time on home ice. David Pastrnak opened the scoring in the game when the 'Perfection Line' teamed up yet again. Bergeron fed Marchand up ice who found Pastrnak for the goal. Jake DeBrusk who had been struggling in the past few games, was held off the ice for much of the first period, and the message was received. Less than three minutes into the third period with the game tied at 1, DeBrusk went on to score two goals in 18 seconds to give the Bruins the lead and get of the schneid. The Sabres would get within a goal a few minutes later, but Rask and the Bruins defense hunkered down and skated away with their third win in a row.
The Bruins will look to end the 2019 year and the 2010 decade with four consecutive wins when they head to New Jersey on New Years Eve for a 1pm matinee.
