UCONN WHKY finish 2020 as runners-up in the Hockey East conference tournament.
What a run! They clawed their way in the playoffs among the best talent in the world with Hockey East members.
They began the playoffs with a 4-2 LOSS to Boston College. To stay alive, they had to win the next 2 @ BC. They did just that, sending home a perennial Hockey East power that has several Team USA members on their roster.
The Husky ladies then traveled to Merrimack College, the WHEA tournament host site, to play UNH in the semis. A shutout 4-0 win pushed them to the finals against Northeastern.
Well, that game did not go so great. Northeastern is a top ranked team in the nation and also possesses the WHEA MYP Alina Mueller. 9-1 was the final score with NE taking the title.
Regardless of the outcome in the championship game, UCONN Women's Hockey made a statement within the conference as a viable team that should not be taken lightly. I am looking forward to seeing where they go from here.
