UConn Women - 76 wins and counting to another Final Four

March 30, 2010 - If Maya Moore didn't get into foul trouble, the UConn Steamroller would have likely blown out the Noles in the first half. Having won 75 straight and not really challenged during any of these games, the 2010 Huskies were just that much better than everyone else as the Huskies & Seminoles played for the second time this season. Where UConn pulled away thanks to Tina Charles monster game in Tallahassee..

Maya was off to a fast start, making four of her first five shots in scoring 11 of UConn's first 17 points. But foul trouble sent her to the bench, so it was Tina's turn..Lots of Charles in the post, despite double teams, led to a 16p-8r effort in the first 20 minutes with a little Tiffany Hayes and Kalana Greene sprinkled in as UConn led 42-28 at the half. Shooting 53% and making the Noles' pay for their mistakes.

So Maya starts the second half and well, scores 8 points in the first three minutes. Greene hit a few elbow jumpers and the rout was on..a 22-6 start to the second half and essentially it was over. A 90-50 rout as the Two All Americans combine for 42p and 22r...Greene was a perfect 6 for 6 and produced 15 points. Hayes added 13 and dolled out 7 assists as UConn shot 53% for the game and 61% in the second half. Outscoring the Noles' 28-14 off turnovers.

The Huskies punched their ticket to San Antonio where Baylor and then Stanford awaited and the took care of their business in winning it's second straight National Championship. Moore and Charles kept up their dominant play in the Final Four with Moore the MOP...As impressive a run as we've ever seen over two seasons...
